LEVY MADE ON CHURCH COLLECTIONS. 3y Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. PARIS. November 23. The "Journal des Debats” says that Catholic organisations and parishes in Germany have been ordered to cut down their expenditure and to use only one candle at Low Mass. They must pay the Government 10 per cent of all collections. It was reported earlier that the Government was demanding the surrender of half the churches’ precious metal and ornaments as a war contribution.
