Mr T. R. Freer, a former resident of Alfredton, died in Sydney recently. Messrs Rothville. Watson and Herbert (Wellington) are staying at the Empire Hotel, Masterton. The Rev Fred J. Parker, who has been in Wellington attending the sessions of the Methodist Church District Synod, has returned to Masterton. Guests staying at the Hotel Midland, Masterton, include Messrs F. S. Hodson (Hastings) and D. Gillespie (Wellington).

Mr R. W. McVilly, Wellington, was last night elected the first life member of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. He has been president for more than 30 years and was re-elected to that position. Messrs G. G. Hamblyn, D. R. Grace (Gisborne); M. Orr (Palmerston North); F. Johnstone and J. - Rowe (Havelock North), are visitors to Masterton staying at the Prince, of Wales Hotel.

Mr J. B. Stewart, at present manager of the Union Bank of Australia at Palmerston North, has been appointed manager of Dunedin branch, in place of Mr W. E. G. Paqualin, formerly of Masterton. who has been appointed manager at the Adelaide branch.

Captain David Kee, of the Church Army, who has been in charge of the society's work in the Burnham military camp, will now take up his position as Dock Street missioner, to which he was appointed before the outbreak of the war. He will be on the staff of St Matthew's Church, Auckland.

The ranks of sport in Wellington lose a stalwart in the death of Mr Kinder Houghton (“Ken”) Tucker, which took place at his home in Ellice Avenue yesterday at the age of 64 years. Those who can remember 40 years back, when Wellington was strong both on the cricket and football fields, with recall the prowess of ihe late Mr Tucker, who was accounted one of Wellington's best slow bowlers and a reliable batsman, both in club and representative cricket. He also figured in the representative football team of 1897. He leaves a widow and married daughter. Messrs Spencer Tucker, Wesley Tucker, both of Wellington, and Mr Allen Tucker, solicitor. Carterton, are brothers, and Mrs Ivy Stansell, London, and Mrs Myra Crowther, Rotorua, are sisters.

The death occurred in Blenheim on Thursday of Mr Carrol John Charles Cussen, chief poultry instructor of the Department of Agriculture. Mr Cussen. who was 58 years of age, joined the department in 1399 as officer in charge of the Burnham poultry station. Four years later he was appointed manager of the Ruakura poultry station and remained there for 13 years. In 1915 he was promoted to the position of poultry instructor and was stationed in Christchurch. On the retirement of Mr F. C. Brown in 1935 Mr Cussen was appointed chief poultry instructor. He was due to retire on superannuation next month. Mr Cussen was unmarried.

Walker: delegates to New Zealand Olympic Association, Messi's Austad, Leeder and Gasson; member of New Zealand Olympic Association executive. Mr Austad: overseas representatives. Dr A. E. Porrit (England), Dr A. S. Lamb (Canada), Mr I. G. Emery (South Africa), Mr E S. Marks (Australia).
