FOR THE HOUSEWIFE

FIRST AIDS TO BEAUTY.

The housewife is really very lucky, and has more beauty aids in her kitchen than are at the disposal of the average girl.

If she receives an urgent call, and. as sometimes happens, she is out of rouge, there is not the slightest reason for despair. Dash to the kitchen cupboard, pour a few drops of cochineal in a saucer add enough water to make a pinky fluid, and then lightly dab on the cheeks with a small piece of cottonwool. The resultant colour is equally as effective and more lasting than rouge. For a powder base she can turn to her milk jug. Sponge the milk over the skin, allow it to dry. and then powder as usual. This will give a soft, velvety finish. Olive oil, of course, requires no mention, but here is a wrinkle for the housewife who is worried over her first few white hairs. Make a strong brew of tea and rinse your hair in the teawater. This will effectively colour the white hairs. Therefore it can be seen that the lot of the housewile is not such a bad one. and there is not the slightest reason why she should not look on her job as a career and make herself beautiful and her family happy. She should rest content, knowing that in these times the housewife and mo'her who car. hold her family’s interest, and can look after them well, is carrying on the greatest career that it is possible to find.
