WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

TE ORE ORE MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The eighth meeting of the Te Ore Ore Women’s Institute took place in the local school. All stood to read "The Prayer lor Peace;" sing "The Ode to Friendship" and recite “The Aspiration.” The president welcomed the demonstrator, Mrs McKenzie, a visitor, Mrs Wallace, and members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames M. Haeata. N. Haeata, Brown, Simpson and Karaitiana. The monthly motto "Each for all, and all for each." was given by the president with appropriate comments. The secretary was asked to write a letter of sympathy to Mrs Haeata in the loss of a relative. A report of the Wairarapa Federation meeting was given by Miss Robinson. Mrs McKenzie assisted by Miss I. West and Miss W. Nini gave an interesting and most helpful talk on first aid, followed by a short demonstration of bandaging. Supper was served by the hostesses Mesdames Brunton, Dring and Keiney. A Roll Call —“My Favourite Singer.” was responded to by all. Mrs Albert conducted the game, drawing a cat. blindfolded, which was wen by Mrs Fouhy. Miss Jaques came second while Mrs Dring and Miss I. West were third. Mrs Morris was the winner of the wandering shilling. During the evening a bring and buy stall conducted by Miss Jaques and Miss Adnore considerably added to the Institute funds. Mesdames McKenzie and Wallace judged the monthly competitions, which resulted as follows:—Best Baby Feeder, Mrs Percy 1, Mrs Morris 2. and Mrs McLauchlan 3. Best flower, Mrs Percy 1, Miss N. West 2, Mrs Morris 3.

The competition for next month will be a design suitable for a banner for the Te Ore Ore Institute. Popular vote decided that the Roll Call be “An Amusing Story.”

Votes of thanks were accorded to Mrs McKenzie and Mrs Wallace. An enjoyable gathering closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
