POPULAR COUPLE

CHURCH PRESENTATIONS. GATHERINGS AT CARTERTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very happy gathering was held in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Hall, Carterton. last Sunday evening at the conclusion of church service, the congregation gathering to honour a popular I couple, Mr R. Brown and Miss Marion Every, who are to be married at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Saturday next. The Rev. W. J. Couling referred to the sterling personal qualities of Mr Brown and of Miss Every. Both were valued adherents of the church, Mr Brown being treasurer and a Sunday School teacher while his bride-to-be was also a Sunday School reacher. Mr Couling said the people of the Parish had decided to acknowledge the services of both, given so cheerfully to the church, by presenting them with a wedding gift. The speaker stated that he had not been more than a month in their midst but during that short period he had learned for himself the splendid service Miss Every and Mr Brown were giving the church. He asked both to come forward and accept on behalf of the parish a silver tea service and an afternoon tea set.

Messrs Jas. Fisher and C. L. Reynolds also referred to the splendid service rendered by Miss Every dnd Mr Brown to the church and Sunday School, and wished them the best of luck in the future. Mr R. Brown on behalf of himself and Miss Every, thanked the speakers for their good wishes and everyone for | the presents. Supper was dispensed by the ladies 'of the congregation and during the evening a trio was nicely sung by Misses Ingley, Dunn and Reid. Mr L. J. Harris also rendered an item. Miss V. Irwin played the accompaniment. At the conclusion of Sunday School service at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church last Sunday morning, the Sunday School scholars and teachers gathered and tendered to Mr R. Brown and Miss M'arion Every their best wishes for their future prosperity and happiness. The superintendent, Mr H. B. Keenan, spoke of the splendid service graciously given by both as Sunday School teachers. He called upon Miss Ruby Stevens to make the presentation of a silver sandwich tray and fork and silver salad servers to Miss Every and Mr Brown, which she did in a neat little speech. Mr Brown thanked all for their kindness and the gifts.
