ASSAULT WITH RAZOR
ELDERLY MAN CHARGED IN CHRISTCHURCH. REMANDED FOR A WEEK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. How a father had allegedly come home drunk, sworn at his wife and slashed his son with a razor necessitating the latter's admission to hospital was described by Sub-Inspector Packer in the Magistrate’s Court when Joseph Kirncr. aged 63 years, appeared on a charge of assaulting John Nicholas Kirner yesterday, so as io cause him actual bodily harm. A police application for a week's remand was granted. Accused had gone to his home last night in a drunken condition and apparently this was a frequent occurrence. said the Sub-Inspector. Kirner Senr had used bad language to h:s wife, and one of his five sons had told him to put his head under the tap. Kirner. Sen:', had run for a razor and gashed his son's throat neck and chest. He later attacked' another son and cut him on a leg. The first son was al present in hospital and not fit to be interviewed. No application for bail was made.
