AUSTRALIAN TROOPS BURN CANTEEN PROTEST DEMONSTRATION AGAINST PRICES. EXASPERATION OVER REFUSAL OF LIQUOR. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Troops at the Ingleburn Carnp of the Second A.I.F. last night wrecked and burned one canteen and stoned another. About two hundred men took part in the demonstration, as a protest against canteen prices. The police in the Liverpool district were called on to quell the disturbance, but before they arrived the canteen had been burnt out and the troops had been dispersed by heavy rain. The canteens had been declared black since Saturday. The troops, it is stated, were also exasperated by the fact that they had been refused wet canteens.
