AFTER WORK MAKE=UP

TIMELY HINTS FOR THE HOUSEWIFE. The housewife will find that before applying make-up It is better to use a liquid foundation in place of the usual cream one, as the liquids will evaporate and leave the skin cool and with a velvety matt surface. At night the face should be washed with warm water and a good soap, dried thoroughly, and then massaged with a little cold cream. This nightly treatment is necessary, as the steam from your cooking and laundry will tend to dry the skin. But a housewife’s hands are her greatest betrayer. Peeling vegetables soon grime the skin, and from constantly being in water the hands become rough and lined. There is only one thing for you to do. Whenever and wherever possible you must wear gloves. At first they will feel awkward, but after a while you will become used to them, and will not notice any feeling of being cramped. The hands’ greatest enemy is wash-ing-up water. The hot soapiness will soon make the skin rough and red. This can bo prevented by rubbing olive oil well into the skin before washing-up. and then on the comple-i tion of the task massage the hands with a little honey and almond lotion. At night, after you have treated your lace, massage a little cold cream well into the fingers and the backs of your hands.
