PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS
LITTLE THINGS COUNT. In the pursuit of smartness, nothing is so important to a woman as paying attention to detail, or absorbing the tremendous truth of the fact that it is the little things that count. And chic, as every woman should realise, is well worth while. One of the benefits of the twentieth century point of view is the emphasis on poise, personality and chic, an attitude that, in a sense, lets the Grecian noses and the alabaster brows fall where they may. To be chic, you must have distinction. It may be one of several kinds. You choose your role and play it to the hilt. The easiest kind of distinction to have and one that pays good dividends is best described as “a spick and spanness.” You undoubtedly know and envy women who have it. Did you think that this knack of looking divinely fresh day in and day out is a gift bequeathed by the gods? Not a bit of it- It is appreciation of the basic importance of the “little” things, an appreciation that has formed and firmly established some excellent habits. It involves some discipline, as all good habits so drearily do, but. as we have said, results are worth it.
If you set out to make yourself outstanding for freshness and exquisite grooming, you must observe the basic rules, of course. You must bathe daily, you must keep your clothes immaculately clean, you must brush your hair and you must visit your coiffure the day before your hair begins to look stringy, not the day after. You must be faithful to your beauty programme of oiling your skin, cleansing it, and "exercising” it with massage. You must not skimp with the hand cream, and you must feel that you would rather be found dead than with chipped nail polish. You treasure your teeth above rubies, and you learn all you can about their correct home care from your dentist when you visit him.
