WOMEN’S DIVISION
MEETING IN MASTERTON. PROBLEMS'FOR COUNCIL. An enthusiastic meeting of delegates of the Wairarapa Provincial Council of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at Masterton, there being 10 branches represented. Mrs J. Piper presided in the absence of Mrs E. H. Dagg. The greatest problem of the Council was the difficulty in following the number of housekeepers’ positions available. Members realised that ..the housekeeping scheme had become well known and established, and calls came from all parts of the Wairarapa for assistance in maternity cases, and to relieve tired mothers. The work in this respect was being done efficiently to meet the necessitous eases. It was mentioned the Advisory Board put a great deal of thought and time into deciding applications for housekeepers. The council also discussed matters relating to the services brought about by war problems. Mrs N. Barrer explained what the Land Army Bill was planning to undertake. A further meeting is to be held to come to a final decision on the matter. The Council members realised that a lot of work would be entailed in helping women and children.
