VENEZUELAN DISASTER DEATH ROLL REDUCED. TOWN ALMOST WIPED OUT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright CARACAS, November 17. Despite earlier estimates which persisted until last night, a Government commission which was sent to Lagunillas reports that the deaths as a result of the oil fire probably did nol exceed 50. Divers are working continuously to recover bodies. Many of the injured are expected to recover. Only 11 buildings escaped destruction. The important oil port on Lake Maracaibo. was destroyed by fire, and it was reported that 300 persons were dead or injured, and that 2000 oil workers’ huts were destroyed. Flames spread over the oil floating on the surface of the lake. The injured were taken to relief camps, which were hurriedly established in nearby towns.
