EUROPEAN FLAX
CULIVATION ON THE ROYAL > ESTATES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 17. Four years ago King George V planted flax seeds in a small corner of the Sandringham farm lands. Success attended the experiment, and since then there has been a regular supply of flax from Norfolk to Northern Ireland. King George VI has been enthusiastic in developing this enterprise, and orders reached Sandringham last week which mean that more flax is to be grown on the Royal estates to meet the demands arising from the war. Northern Irish linen is famous the world over, and the King's flax will materially help Britain's export trade, which has been called her fourth line of defence.
