It is officially announced that the Women's Auxiliary of the Territorial Service is being doubled to 40.000. in order to release man-power. It is also announced that 20.000 men aged from 35 to 50 will be recruited immediately for home defence battalions, which will be closely affiliated to Territorial county regiments. This recruitment will release able-bodied fighters, a considerable number of whom are still guarding bridges, railways and factories.
