FEILDING SALE.
DULL IN ALL SECTIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, November 17. The market at Feilding today was dull in all sections, the continued absence of rain and the uncertainty regarding future prices again holding buyers off. Fat sheep: Lack of colnpetition and the knowledge about prices for the coming season caused a heavy yarding. Prices were back by at least Is 6d to 2s a head following a dull sale. Prime heavy ewes made 20s 3d to 22s 6d, second grade 17s to 19s, lighter 14s to 16s 9d, inferior from 8s 9d, prime hoggets 20s 3d to 21s Bd, medium prime 18s to 19s 9d, light 17s 3d, extra prime wethers 265, prime 21s 3d to 235, lighter 18s 9d to 21s. Store sheep: Sales made were generally at a lower level than recently. Best two-tooth wethers made 17s Id, others 15s; medium ewe hoggets 20s to 21s lOd; medium wether hoggets, good, 21s lOd; fair two-tooth ewes 255; store ewes 9s 6d to 12s. Store cattle: Quite a good representation of store cattle was offered, but again the uncertainty of feed conditions prevented active buying. Empty A.A. cows made £4; backward Hereford cows £2 5s to £3; two-year A.A. heifers, good, £4, others £3 5s to £3 6s; rough yearling steers £1 to £2 7s 6d, good £3 18s; best yearling Jersey heifers £5 to £5 Bs, others £2 10s to £4; two-year A.A. steers £5 15s. Dairy cattle: Only a few head of dairy stock came forward, and met a quiet demand. Good springing cows made £9, backward £4; heifers in milk £3 10s to £3 15s; springing heifers £4 10s to £6 ss; cows calved £4 to £9 10s. Fat cattle: A considerable decline took place in the beef values, the quality of the offering not being up to the standard of recent salps. Pigs: A good sale took place for pigs, the acute shortage of young stock makign for keen competition. Weaners made 10s 6d to 14s 6d; slips 15s 6d to 18s 6d, stores 22s 6d to 32s 6d; porkers 425, sows £2 to £4 ss. CARTERTON SALE. SHEEP PRICES IMPROVE. Messrs Wright. Stephenson and Co. report as follows: —We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday, when a fair entry of stock was offered to the usual attendance. Sheep met with a good sale and prices showed an improvement. Cattle were about the same as last week. Baconers and porkers made good values, and weaners. although better, than last week, were not in keen demand. The following are prices:— Sheep: Fat woolly wethers, 24s to 25s 6d. fat b.f. hoggets. 19s 6d to 22s 3d, fat S.D. woolly ewes 21s Gd. fat shorn ewes 16s. fat shorn b.f. hoggets. 19s, ewes with w.f. lambs at foot, 55s 6d (all counted). Cattle: Springing cows £7 to £7 10s. springing heifers £6 5s to £7, empty yearling heifers. £4 Is to £5; (small ditto), £3 to £3 15s, fat cows (heavy), £6 15s to £9 ss, lighter, £4 2s 6d to £5 18s. store cows £1 10s to £2 19s. bulls (potter), to £9. Pigs: Baconers, £3 to £3 15s; porkers (heavy), £2 Is to £2 12s 6d; (lighter). 34s 6d to 38s, slips, 28s to 32s 6d. , weaners (good), 14s 6d to 19s 6d (small). 12s to 13s.
