PUPILS OF MISS COLEMAN
FINAL DEMONSTRATION. A crowded house greeted the pupils of Miss Betty Coleman, L.T.C.L., on Wednesday night, when they presented their final demonstration to parents and friends in the Savage Club Rooms. Outstanding among the items were the two choral-speaking choirs, one from the Hadlow Boys’ School and the other a Maori choir from Te Ore Ore. The Maoris wore native costume and received hearty applause for their interesting item. The Hadlow choir was also excellent. Miss Coleman and the junior mime class engaged in mime rhymes and exercises, and the senior mime class did mime plays which were extremely popular with the audience. Interspersed with musical monologues and recitations were several scenes from well-known books and plays. The programme concluded with a charming Quaker play. At the conclusion of the performance, Elizabeth Thomas, on behalf of the pupils, presented Miss Coleman with a silver cake dish and wished her every happiness in the future, at the same time expressing their regret that she was leaving Masterton. The children also made a presentation to Mrs Coleman and thanked her for her interest and help.
