A red ring from the leg of a swan found dying at Lake Brunton, near Waipapa Lighthouse, by Mr A. W. Ericson, was produced at a meeting of the Southland Acclimatisation Society. The ring, which had been sent on to the society, bore the number 39. The suggestion was made by a member that file ring might belong to the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society. It was decided to make inquiries from both the Otago and Canterbury societies.
