ALARM IN SYDNEY
ACCIDENTAL GUNFIRE FROM CRUISER ABOUT THIRTY BULLETS FALL IN SUBURBS. SOME CEILINGS PIERCED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. With regard to the accidental discharge of a machine-gun from a cruiser, it is stated that within ten seconds a complete belt of 200 rounds was discharged, but it is believed only about 30 bullets fell in the suburbs. Many pierced ceilings and fell into rooms. The police stations received telephone inquiries from residents who feared that an air raid was in progress. Fifty' policemen were sent to the suburbs affected to reassure householders. _____________
