AIR BOMBING
COTTAGE WINDOWS BROKEN IN SHETLAND NO OTHER DAMAGE DONE. ATTACKING PLANES DRIVEN OFF. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, November 13. The Admiralty states that in the two attacks on the Shetland Islands which were made by German aircraft today, bombs were dropped, but they fell wide of any mark. The raid was made by four planes. One of them, a flying-boat, was engaged by three British planes. Some of the bombs fell in the sea and others hit land, making holes six feet deep and shattering windows of cottage houses. This is the second time German planes have dropped bombs on Britain, the first occasion being when the attack was made on the Forth Bridge. Daventry reports that the German raids on the Shetlands resulted in .12 heavy bombs being dropped. Four fell in the sea, four others close together on land and four three miles inland on top of a hill. Apart from windows broken in some cottages, no damage was done.
