CONSCRIPTION ISSUE
STATEMENT BY MINISTER. NO CHANGE CONTEMPLATED AT PRESENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Opposition to the introduction of conscription was expressed by a deputation to Ministers from the annual conference of the New Zealand Labourers’ Federation. The Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, replied that at the moment the spontaneous response to the appeal for voluntary t enlistment precluded any contemplation of the introduction of conscription.
