I MASTERTON CLUB GAMES. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEASON. j At the monthly committee meeting ) of the Masterton Bowling Club, it was ,- decided to commence champion fours . and club fours contests on Saturday t next at 1.30 p.m. Onlj' six teams are - to compete in the champion fours, the . others are to play in the Club fours. ? The latter games are to be of 21 heads s and the names of the players will be placed in the box as usual. These games will be played on alternate Saturdays to Booth Cup and shield games. It was decided that all championship and interclub games should be played without the use of scrim on the greens. The congratulations of the committee were offered to the selector, Mr D. F. Thurston on his selection of the teams for last Saturday’s Booth Cup and shield games. A number of new play- - ers were included in the selection, giv--5 ing the members a wider interest in ' this competition. ! Two new members were elected, briningg the number of new players to . a very gratifying total. , The committee decided to procure a , supply of club badges, and these will be available to members. I PENNANT BADGE. An interesting game for the Pennant Badge was decided on Monday night. After a very close and even contest the Pennant was retained by the holders, Roberts and Russell. The challengers were Cliff and Tamblyn. FOURS COMPETITION. The club fours competition recently reinstated by a special general meeting of the Masterton Bowling Club will be commenced on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. Players will be classified as in previous years, and the teams will be drawn from the box every Saturday afternoon. It is proposed to limit each player’s participation in the competition to eight games. The committee has also decided to that three games of champion fours will be played at. I. p.m. on each Saturday alternate lo Booth Cup Saturdays, and the match committee will decide which teams shall play. There has been keen competition for the Pennants. F. Mills and W. Reid (s) having been defeated by J. Russell and J. F. Roberts (s), who have already , withstood a challenge from Tamblyn and Clift (s). Several further challenges have been entered, and the games are to be played at an early date. MASTERTON CLUB. MANY NEW MEMBERS. (Notes by “The Bowler.’’) A large number of entries have been made for the club competitions of the Masterton Club, and the drawings are posted up in the pavilion. The first round of the chamnion singles. champion pairs, and handicap singles must be played by not later than Saturday. December 2. The match committee would be greatly assisted if players would make special efforts to get their games played early. Manv new members have joined the chib this season, and it is pleasing to note that several of them are already showing excellent form.
