CARTERTON
ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. ("Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge was held last evening, P.G. Bro. C. E. White presiding over a good attendance of members. One. member was declared on the lodge sick fund. Correspondence was received from Loyal Wairarapa Past Grands’ Lodge of Odd Fellows extending congratulations to lodge officers upon their winning the ritual examination. The P.G. Lodge forwarded a circular letter in regard to X-ray treatment, massage, dressings, and ambulance at public hospitals. After discussion, it was resolved: "That this lodge advise the P.G. Lodge that the Heart of Oak Lodge is of the opinion that a scheme on the lines outlined in the circular letter from the Loyal Dannevirke Lodge should be introduced in the Wairarapa district.” The following nominations of officers were received: —N.G., Bro. C. C. Deller; V.G., Sister Eagle and Sister Mellish; E.S., Bro. G. S. Bruce: Warden. Sisters Eagle (2), Mellish and Bro. Rathbone; conductor, Bro. W. J. Wilkins; L.M., Bro. C. E. White: delegates to F.S. Council, Bros. C. E. White and A. R. Tankersley. It was resolved that the secretary write inviting the District G.M. and his officers to visit Carterton on Monday. December 11. It was decided that the secretary arrange for supper to be provided after the business on November 27. when the president of the P.G. Lodge would be in attendance to present the ritual shield to lodge officers, and also on December 11, when district officers would be present. The next lodge night will be quarterly summoned meeting when it is hoped there will be a large attendance. Personal Items. Mr Geo. Potter, of the Carterton Railway Station staff, has left on transfer to the Wellington Station. His place has been taken by Mr C. Adams, of Pahiatua. Mr Eric Jones, who, until recently, was on the staff of the Carterton Railway Station, left Carterton yesterday where he had been visiting. Mr W. L. DeLacey, who had been staying with his sister, Mrs Lenihan,' during the past ten days returned to Auckland this morning by rail. MISS M. EVERY GUEST AT "PANTRY PARTY.” I Miss Marion Every was again entertained when she was the guest last night at a “pantry party.” The hostess on this occasion being Mrs R. Tankersley. Several competitions caused much amusement, the winners being Mrs J. Fisher, Mrs G. Brown and Mrs W. Williams. Miss Every graciously thanked those present for their gifts and Mrs Tankersley for having arranged such a delightful party. PREPARATIONS FOR A FROST WHICH DID NOT EVENTUATE. After Monday morning’s heavy frost everyone last evening took precautions for what promised to be another disastrous visitation. Vegetable gardens were covered with paper, scrim and other safeguards against frost. This morning many woke early to find instead of a frost as anticipated a drizzling rain with a stiff breeze blowing, and their paper coverings, etc., being strewn in all directions. Others lit : sawdust fires to ward off a frost that ' did not eventuate. '
