TERRITORIAL PARADE

HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT. GOOD MUSTER LAST NIGHT. The fortnightly parade of C Company Hawke’s Bay Regiment was held in the Drill Hall last night, when there was a good muster. The smart appearance and bearing of the men occasioned favourable comment from citizens present.' The keen interest being displayed by the public is an added incentive for the men to turn out for parades. A short route march was held as a "breather” after rifle drill. Captain Fowler, Officer Commanding C Company, in the absence of Captain C. J. Williams, Area Officer No. 7, stationed at Napier, addressed . the men. and referred to the regret felt that C Company was losing such a popular young officer as 2nd Lieutenant H. V. Donald, who was leaving immediately to join up with the Second Echelon. Three hearty cheers were given for Lieutenant Donald, and the hope was expressed that he would return and give C Company the benefit of his training. During the evening elementary training tests were carried out, the percentage of passes being high. The following N.C.O.'s of the local unit have retained their former rank in the Special Force: Sergeants C. A. Newland, R. N. Johnston (Machinegunners. Burnham Camp), and A. M. Kennedy (Rifle Battalion, Trcntham.)
