RACING APPEAL
REDUCTION IN PENALTY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, November 13. The Hawke's Bay District Committee considered on Saturday an appeal, under Rule 357 of the Rules of Racing, by the jockey E. Deslandes against the decision of the Poverty Bay Hunt Club in disqualifying him for twelve months under Rule 205 k. After considering the appeal' and taking into account the various circumstances which led to the disqualification, and also Deslandes’s clean record over a period of 20 years, the penalty was reduced from 12 months to six months. APPEAL SUCCEEDS DISQUALIFICATION OF HORSES REMOVED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The Now Zealand Racing Conference has issued the following judgment, signed by Messrs W. E. Leicester. H. R. Chalmers and H. H. Green, in the matter of the appeal under rule 376 of the Rules of Racing by G. A. McDonell for the removal of the disqualification of the horses Highball and Beau Monde whiph was incurred by reason of C. A. Crosby, falsely known as A. J. McCormac, a person disqualified for life under the name of R. B. Mclntyre, having acquired an interest in the former horse and having had the latter horse in his charge: "That after hearing the appellant in this matter we are of the opinion that we should accept his explanation that he had no knowledge of A. J. McCormac’s real identity and accordingly the disqualification of the horses Highball and Beau Monde should be removed."
