WEDDING

HEDLEY—CALDWELL. In St. Matthew's Church. Masterton, on Saturday evening took place the marriage of Bessie Iddcnden, youngest daughter of’Mrs and the late Mr J. A. Caldwell, and William Thomas, eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr W Hedley. The Rev. E. J. Rich officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by Mr T. Pillar, a very old friend of the family, was attired in a pearl satin gown, trimmed with buttons and cut on slimming lines, with long train. At her neck-line was fastened a becoming spray of orange blossom, previously worn bj' her mother. Her long veil of tulle was attached to a Coronet of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of cream roses and lily of the valley. The bridesmaid, Miss Elsie Caldwell. sister of the bride, chose a dainty blue floral sheer frock, which featured a rucked bodice, trimmed with blue velvet bows. A halo of blue flowers was worn to tone and she carried a bouquet of pink roses, carnations, and sweet peas made by an old friend. Mr Alex Hedley, the bride-groom's brother, carried out the duties of best n.'.n. Miss Nellie Caldwell presented the bride as she came down the aisle of the church, with a silver horse-shoe and sprig of heather from Scotland. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Orange Hall, Mrs Caldwell, the bride’s mother, received her guests wearing a blue floral ensemble, with navy accessories, and carrying a bouquet of red roses. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, .Mrs Hedley, who wore a navy floral ■ frock with smart three-quarter length coat, while her bouquet consisted of pink roses and carnations. For travelling, the bride wore a smart powder blue costume with navy accessories and fur stole. The future home of Mr and Mrs Hedley will be in pihautea. > Among the guests from a distance were Mrs F. Davies. Hawera: Mr and Mrs Robinson, Hastings; Mr and Mrs Knight, Otaki; Miss Murdoch, Wanganui; Mr and Mrs Foster, Levin; and Mr and Mrs J. Denton, Dannevirke.
