MEN OF THE NAVY

GREAT INCREASE IN NUMBERS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 11. A considerable expansion in the Royal Navy personnel has taken place; since the outbreak ol war. This is partly necessitated by the commissioning of ships in the reserve tleet for. which normally no peacetime complement existed and by the large number of auxiliaries joining the fleet. Before the rearmament of the British Navy the personnel was 92.000. but by April .1940. it is estimated that it will have risen to 131.000. excluding emergency war expansion. It is expected that the expansion during the next 12 months will be by at least 58,000 men.
