EXPORT OF AIRCRAFT

REASONS FOR AMERICAN POLICY. By Telegraph—Press Association Copyright. NEW YORK, November 11. The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” says the new policy permitting the export of United States service type planes is motivated partly by the experts’ desire to see the equipment tested under combat and also by the more important economic consideration of the expansion of United States production to enable a steadier and cheaper source of supply for military aircraft than has been available under the army's and the navy’s hitherto cautious purchasing policy. Already the services have benefited by important price reductions in aeroplane engines attributable directly to foreign orders of sufficient size to enable mass production.
