AUSTRALIAN BANKS OFFER LOAN. APPROVED BY COUNCIL. By Talegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day. 9.45 a.m.) CANBERRA. This Day. The Australian banks have offered a loan of ,£10,000,000 to the Commonwealth Government at 31 per cent, tn finance immediate defence needs. The Loan Council, at a meeting yesterday, approved of the loan, which is regarded as more advisable in the present circumstances than a public loan.
