METHODIST CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD. ADDRESS BY MATRON BARNITT. The monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies' Social Guild was held at the residence of Mrs F. J. Parker, Lincoln Road, this being the final meeting for the year. Mrs Parker presided over a good attendance of members. Mrs Handyside reported that the proceeds of the pyramid effort so far amounted to just on £36. There were still a few cards outstanding. It was decided that Mrs Handyside be authorised to hand this amount over to the Trustees before the end of the year. Mrs Parker reported that the Trustees of the Church intend to hold a Garden Party at Wangaehu early in December, and had asked the Ladies’ Guild to be responsible for the cake and afternoon tea stalls. Committees were appointed for each stall and it was suggested that the young people of the Church be asked to look after the sweets stall. The speaker for the afternoon was Miss Barnitt, Matron of the Masterton Hospital. Miss Barnitt gave a most interesting and helpful talk on health. She stressed the need for cleanliness, and sufficient hours of sleep and rest to ensure good health. Mrs F. C. Daniell voiced the thanks of Guild members and expressed their great pleasure at having the opportunity of hearing Miss Barnitt speak. The pronouncing of the Benediction brought the meeting to a close.
