JOHNSONVILLE SALE
RECENT RATES MAINTAINED. Large yardings of cattle and sheep were offered by Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., at the sale conducted in Johnsonville yesterday. The bullocks penned were chiefly prime heavyweight cattle, with a few pens of mediumweights. Prime heavyweight bullocks met with a ready sale, there being little alteration in recent prices, and a good sale resulted for medium bullocks. No cows and heifers and no runners and vealers were on sale.
The average yarding of wethers, both woolly and shorn, was of fairly good quality. Woolly wethers sold readily, though shorn wethers of good quality were not sought. There was a fairly large yarding of ewes, which were of good quality, and included some extra prime woolly maiden sorts. Extra heavy ewes were not sought, but prime woolly ewes sold well, prices showing little alteration. Shorn hoggets were not sought, but spring lambs, of which there was a fairly large yarding, sold well at recent rates. Prices are:—
