THE EXHIBITION
VERY GREAT SUCCESS MANAGER WELL PLEASED WITH OPENING DAY. ATTENDANCE OF SIXTY THOUSAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. “From every point of view, the opening was most successful " said the general manager of the Exhibition Company. Mr C. P. Hainsworih, last night. “I have heard nothing but congratulations on the ceremony, and the Exhibition itself. “The weather favoured us. .and the opening ceremony went of)’ very well.
"The buildings and ground were thronged throughout the afternoon and evening, and the lighting and other effects were greatly admired. “In certain ways we have not yet shaken down, of course, but everything will be running smoothly in a day of two, and in general. I think we may say the opening day has been a very great success."
The Exhibition authorities reported late last night that approximately’ GO,OOO people passed through the gates yesterday.
