NOTABLE SUCCESS GAINED BY FRENCH THREE SEPARATE ENCOUNTERS. NUMBERS OF ENEMY PLANES BROUGHT DOWN. Bj’ Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. PARIS, November 8. Details have been released of three separate air flights last Monday. Nine French chasers engaged 27 Messerschmitts and the majority of the Germans were brought down. The French then sighted another patrol of nine Messerschmitts over the French lines and pursued them as far as Mersiz, shooting down two. All the French returned to their base safely, though slightly damaged by gunfire. Four other French chasers attacked nine Messerschmitts, shooting down two.

NORTH SEA COMBATS STRIKING VICTORIES WON BY ALLIES. GOERING’S REPORTED BOAST. LONDON. November 8. Allied air force units have gained striking victories in combats over sea and land in the last two days. German planes were very active in the North Sea throughout, the day. but their raids were failures.

The Berlin correspondent of the British United Press states that General Goering, when asked why he had not launched more aerial attacks on British harbours, replied: “ 1 am humane.” adding, “You should not laugh. I am serious. The general situation is exceedingly favourable to Germany. Of course, we lose a plane or two occasionally, but if the French are shooting down as many as they say they are not our planes.”
