CONGRESS DEMANDS
REFUSED BY BRITISH GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS QUITE UNACCEPTABLE. TO LARGE SECTION OF INDIAN POPULATION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) , LONDON. November 7. The Marquess of Zetland, Secretary for India, in the House of Lords, said the Government would not accept the Indian Congress Party’s demands, on which members of Congress were insisting before considering Lord Linlithgow’s plans. Further, it would mean the summary abandonment of the British Government's position in India, which was unacceptable to large sections of the Indian population.
