Y.M.C.A.

CONCERT AND DISPLAY TONIGHT. Even in the critical eyes of those who watched lhe final rehearsal at the Opera House last night, the standard of performance of this year’s Y.M.C.A. display surpassed all expectations. This, together with the great variety in the items themselves, makes the entertainment one that should not be missed by anyone who values a good, clean show, produced without a dull moment from start to finish. The physical work of the young men and women shows a very high standard, while the work of the children, particularly the girls, is at times nothing short of amazing. The trapeze exhibition by the three Tatton brothers, includes the use of the swinging trapeze for the first time in Masterton and is only one justification for the claim that this is “the show that is different.” The dance portion of the programme is unusually charming and colourful. On the musical side, there is a variety of vocal items and, for lovers of that popular instrument, the piano-accordion, a rare treat in the first appearance here of Mr Allan Shand, of Wellington. A strong orchestra does full credit to a show that is well worthwhile, from the overture to the final curtain. Tickets are selling well and booking is recommended at Arts and Crafts, where reserves may be had at no extra cost for tonight’s concert and display.
