RELEASE OP THE CITY OF PUNT NORWAY REJECTS GERMAN PROTEST. PORT ENTERED WITHOUT VALID REASON. The following Daventry reports have been robroadcast by the New Zealand National stations:— The Norwegian Government has rejected Germany’s protest against the release of the City of Flint and the internment of its prize crew. Norway slates that she had no alternative but to intern the Gormans because of violation of neutral practice. An examination by a Norwegian doctor disproved the claim of the Nazi prize crew that they had entered port because one of the American crew was ailing and had to be put ashore. The German Press attacks Norway's action. Germany is not able to conceive. one statement observed, how such a little country as Norway has dared to do this. It is incomprehensible. says another, that a little nation should venture to interfere with German naval operations. A meeting of the Oslo Powers, except Luxembourg, is to be held tomorrow to consider technical problems of neutrality. AMERICAN NAVAL BUILDING. The United States announce a fiveyear programme for the building of 95 warships, including three aircraft carriers, eight cruisers, 52 destroyers and 32 submarines, and for the construction of 2395 aeroplanes. GOEBBELS ON LEAFLETS. An admission of widespread knowledge in Germany of pamphlets dropped from British aeroplanes was made by Dr Goebbels in a speech. He stated that the stupid leaflets which the British had dropped were unable to do any harm. AUSTRALIA'S AIR EFFORT. A complete refutation of the German wireless station's assertion that Australia's decision not to send an air forte to Europe is due to increasing opposition in the Dominions to the war is given by the Federal Prime Minister (Mr R. G. Menzies). Mr Menzies said that the decision not to send an air force squadron had been reached because of the Canadian proposal for the training of Empire pilots. This decision had been reached after collaboration between the United Kingdom and Australian Governments. Mr Menzies added that the Canadian plan involved a tenfold increase in Australia's participation in the war. GERMAN BRUTALITIES. The Press in German.? has now been allowed to make reference to the British White Paper dealing with brutalities in concentration camps, but the details of the White Paper have not been published. This has been revealed in a message from Amsterdam. The White Paper is called a “pathological Jewish product,” but it is noted that the German Press has made no answer to the British charges of brutality.
