N.Z. WOOL CLIP

APPRAISEMENT PLANS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, November 5. Arrangements have now been made by. the Government with members of the Boolbuyers’ Association io appraise the wool clip now coming forward from farms, according to information received in the weekend by brokers. They have also been advised of various conditions associated with the handling of wool preparatory to delivery under sale to the British Government. One of these which is important from the aspect of the producer, is that all Meece wool must be skirted, if skirting is hot carried out on the farm it must be done in the brokers’ stores. Terms under which woolbuyers will appraise the clip have not yet been disclosed. It is believed that remuneration will be on a poundage basis, and it is stated that there is no suggestion that appraisers will become civil servants under the scheme, nor will they be required, it is stated, to train civil servants as appraisers, this being one of the conditions, according to the current report, that was embodied in the original offer by the Government; which was rejected by' buyers. Between 8000 and 9000 bales now await appraisement in Auckland, but it is not known when the actual work of valuing will start. BASIS OF PAYMENT. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. WELLINGTON, This Day.
