SUPPOSED OBJECT. PURSUIT OF REPUBLICAN AIMS. LONDON. November 2. Commenting on the negotiations i’ol amalgamation of the National Party led by Dr. Malan and General Hartzog’s followers, the Cape Town correspondent of "The Times” points out that Dr. Malan is unlikely to have pledged himself to serve under General Hertzog without the latter’s assurance that he intended to continue actively to oppose General Smuts and therefore i’ seems only a matter of time before the followers of Dr. Malan and General Hertzog become united in the Nationalist Party, whose ultimate object is ; South African republic.
