THE RUSSIAN DEMANDS ON FINLAND VIEW OF OFFICIALS & OTHERS. SOVIET NAVAL BASE CLAIM REDUCED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 1.25 p.m.) LONDON, November 2. The Helsinki correspondent of the Associated Press of America states that the Russian claim for a naval base at Hanko has been reduced to a claim for the island of Utoc. The Copenhagen correspondent of “The Times” states that while Berlin officially sanctions Russia’s demands, many, including military officials and responsible quarters, openly assert that Finland does not threaten Russia and that therefore the Russian drive is really aimed at Germany.
