One of the most momentous conferences in India’s political history' opened at the Viceroy’s residence when Lord Linlithgow met. Mr Gandhi. Mr Prasad, President of the National Congress and Mr Jinnah, President of the Moslem League. This is the first time the Viceroy has met the party leaders. After a round table conference, the three leaders conferred privately. A communique said that a discussion of a general character took place, after which the meeting adjourned.
