SOLWAY RAINFALL FIGURES FOR OCTOBER. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 11 days in October. The maximum fall was 28 points on October 31 and the minimum 1 point on the 15th. The total for the month was 1.35 inches as against 1.45 (1938), 2.08 (1937), 3.31 (1936), 4.54 (1935), 2.68 (1934). The average for 36 years is 3.43 inches. The total rainfall for ten months is 25.46 inches as compared' with 39.44 (1938), 29.17 (1937), 38.29 (1936), 39.84 (1935), 32.52 (1934); average for 36 years, 33.54 inches.
Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 29.93. Shade temperature: Maximum 59.5, minimum 35.1, terrestrial 27.6. Sunshine, 9 hours 12 min. Frost, 2.8 degrees.
Weather forecast: Strong northwesterly winds reaching gale force in exposed positions but a temporary southerly change setting in this evening. Weather cloudy to overcast with some rain and cooler temperatures.
