BIG SLIP BLOCKS HIGHWAY. EFFORTS TO CLEAR TRACK BY TOMORROW. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. Shortly after 6 o’clock this morning a big slip fell in the Manawatu Gorge, where widening work is proceeding, just over a mile from the Woodville end, completely blocking the highway and carrying away thousands of tons. It is hoped to have a track through by tomorrow. Traffic may deviate via the Pahiatua road.
