DEMAND FOR INCREASED WAGES. ACTION IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A demand for a 20 per cent increase in wages has been made by the Seamen’s Union and other maritime organisations for all members of crews in inter-State ships and vessels serving New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and Australia which are controlled by the Commonwealth Naviagation Act. About 1500 employees are involved.
