U-BOAT ATTACKS

A U-boat sank the British steamer Malabar in the Atlantic. Seventy survivors have landed at a West of England port. An engineer and four Lascars, trapped in the engine room, died. GERMAN THREAT ATTACKS ON MERCHANTMEN TO BE INTENSIFIED. BERLIN, October 30. The ‘‘Voelkischer Beobachter” forecasts an intensification of the attacks on British merchantmen. It alleged that arming them violates international law. TWO TRAWLERS SUNK RETURNING FROM FISHING GROUNDS. CREWS LANDED SAFELY. (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, October 30. The Hull steam trawler St Nidan was sunk, it is believed by enemy action, while returning from fishing grounds. The crew of fifteen was saved. The Grimsby trawler Lynx II was sunk in the North Sea as the result of enemy action. The crew of ten was landed in Scotland. The Lynx, which was sunk by fufifire, is the first loss of the Grismby fishing fleet. The name of the Norwegian steamer sunk on Sunday is Vavangmain.
