WOMAN’S DEATH
CHARGES AGAINST CHEMIST. VERDICT OF NOT GUILTY. (By Telegraph—frees Association.) NAPIER, October 30. A verdict of not guilty on both counts was returned by a jury after a brief retirement at the conclusion of the trial today in the Supreme Court, Napier, before Mr Justice Blair, of Godfrey Coldwell, chemist, Hastings, aged 27, who pleaded not guilty to two charges arising from the death of Muriel Esther Reichelt, whose body was found in Avenue Road, Hastings, on July 20. The charges were that on or about June 17 in Hastings ho unlawfully supplied to Muriel Esther Reichelt a noxious thing, ergot, knowing it was to be unlawfully used with intent to procure a miscarriage; and that on or about July 19 in Hastings he improperly interfered with or offered indignity to the dead body of Muriel Esther Reichelt by removing it from the place where she died to Avenue Road.
