BEAU VITE’S FALL NOT SERIOUS HIGH CASTE IN GOOD CONDITION. 3y Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright MELBOURNE, October 30. Leif broke down in the Valley Cup, and may miss the remaining spring en - gagements. Frill Prince was lame after the Valley Cup, but recovered at the weekend, and is expected to run in the Melbourne Cup. Trainer George does not anticipate any ill-effccts from Beau Vite’s fall in the W. S. Cox Plate. He considers the colt would have won on Saturday barring the accident. His opinion is shared by good judges, who expect Beau Vite to make a bold bid in the Derby. High Caste looked well today, as also did Gold Salute. The latter’s stamina will be tested in the Derby. Rumpurs that Gold Salute was suffering from ( colic circulated yesterday. His trainer, W. Shean. stated that the colt was slightly off colour on Saturday morning, but recovered quickly. In the circumstances his effort in the Cox Plate was excellent. Te Hero's Melbourne debut was inglorious. He was troublesome prior to the start of the Dundonald Handicap, and refused io leave the barrier until the field had travelled three furlongs. The colt Wilson, who suffered soreness last week, moved freely at Caulfield today. W. Cook will be out of the saddle for a few days as a result of .Saturdays fall, but he will be all right to ride Beau Vite in the Derby Cup. M. McCarten will probably ride Feminist ill the Cup.
