FEILDING SALE.
BEEF PRICES ADVANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, October 27. Cattle prices underwent a sharp change at the Feilding sale today, values being down by about £1 a head on thfe fair prices of a fortnight ago. Sheep quotations, generally, held quite steady. Fat sheep: A fairly substantial entry of fat sheep sold on a par with late rates, ewe values holding particularly steady. Prime shorn wethers made 22s 3d to 24s 6d; medium prime, 19s 7d to 225; light, 17s to 19s; woolly wethers, 27s;' extra prime ewes, 27s 3d; prime, 22s 9d to. 24s 6d; lighter, 19s 7d to 21s 6d; unfinished, 14s to 18s 6d; prime hoggets, 23s to 26s Id; lighter, 17s 5d to 21s Bd. Store sheep: Better quality ewe and wether hoggets found a ready market. Wether values were unchanged. Good wether hoggets made 20s 6d to 235; second grade, 18s 7d to 19s 2d; small, 13s 7d to 15s 8d; best ewe hoggets, 28s to 28s 7d; others, 16s 2d to 21s 3d; b.f. wether hoggets, good, 20s 7d; smaller, 14s 7d to 17s 7d; fair two-tooth ewes. 25s 4d; backward two-tooth wethers, 14s 3d to 17s Id; cull ewes, 8s Bd, ewes and lambs, 8s 6d to 15s 3d. Store cattle: Station cattle values slumped badly undei' a slack demand. The young lines did not appear to be in favour, and the adult cattle that were not in good forward condition hardly received a bid. Good threeyear A.A. steers made £9 2s 6d; medium Hereford steers, £8 17s; fair tv/o-year A.A. steers, £6 to £6 7s 6d: small, £5; two-yeai’ Hereford steers, £5; two-year Red Poll steers, £5 2s 6d; two-year A.A. heifers, best, £5 9s; poor, £3 5s to £3 16s; yearling A.A. heifers. £2 12s 6d; yearling l A.A. steers, £3 to £4; Holsteins, £2 10s; empty A.A. cows, £4 10s to £4 17s 6d; Herefords, £4 17s 6d to £5: A.A. cows and calves, £3 Ils; yearling Jersey heifers, good, £5 6s to £6 10s; smaller, £2 to £5 4s; boner cows, heavy, £3 7s 6d to £3 17s 6d; others, £1 15s to £3. Dairy cows: Some good sorts were included in a penning of average dimensions, and fox - these inquiries were brisk. Best springing heifers made £7 15s to £9 2s 6d; backward, £5 2s 6d to £6 15s; good springing cows, £8 17s 6d to £10; later calvers, £5 10s to £8 10s; cows in milk, £4. Fat cattle: Beef prices were again keen, ex-dairy sorts of good weight coming in for spirited competition. Prices showed a general advance. Prime station-bred cows made £lO 15s to £l2 ss; second grade, £9 to £lO 10s; heavy ex-dairy cows, £6 15s to £8; others, £4 12s 6d to £6 ss; prime station heifers, £l2 15s to £l3; medium weights, £8 10s to £10; light, £6 10s to £8; medium prime ox, £lO 15s to £ll 14s; light, £6 10s to £8; medium prime ox, £lO 15s to £ll 14s; light, £8 10s. Pigs.—The quality of the pigs entered was not good, prices going back a little. Weaners, good, made 18s; smaller, 12s to 16s; slips, 24s to 25s fid; stores, 35s 6d to 39s 6d; porkers, 46s 6d; bacon er, 545. EKETAHUNA SALE DEMAND FOR BULLS. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. reports as follows:—We held oux' weekly sale at Eketahuna yesterday when a small yarding of dairy cattle and pigs, and a fair entry of dairy bulls were submitted to a good attendance. Bulls with size and condition, met with a ready sale, and taken throughout all classes made satisfactory prices. We quote sales as follows:—A/c. J. L. Heckler, two and three yeai’ Jersey bulls, £l7, £l3 10s, £l3, £l2 10s to £l2. A/c. C. E. Evans, yearling Jersey bull, £l2 12s; A/c. Chas Schnell, grade yearling Jersey bulls, £5, £4 2s 6d; four-year-old ditto, £9 10. A/c. Geo Jaspers yearling ditto, £6 12s 6d to £7 2s 6d; fouxyeai’ ditto, £l2; A/c. othex’ vendors: yearling Jersey bulls, £6 to £5 10s; two year, Holstein bull, £7 15s; coloured yearling steers, 30s; cull P.A. cows, 30s; dairy cow with calf at foot, £3 15s; weaner pigs, 23s to 20s.
