ALFREDTON
FAREWELL GATHERING (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance of dancers at the Alfredton Hall on Saturday night when the settlers of the district gathered to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs S. K. (“Tog”) Raleigh. Music was supplied by the Eketahuna orchestra and a dainty buffet supper was served in the lounge. During the evening Mr D. M. Parsonson, on behalf of those present, presented the guests with a chiming clock, and expressed the regret with which they parted with such popular residents. Mr Raleigh suitably responded. Mr and Mrs Raleigh have purchased a home in Wellington. TENNIS CLUB OPENING OF SEASON. The Alfredton Tennis Club held its opening day on Labour Day. The weather conditions were ideal, and there was a large number of entries for the Yankee tournament, which was won by Mrs Low and Mr H. Burch. Mrs S. M. George (president) extended a hearty welcome to new members and wished the club a happy and successful season. Hitting the first ball over the not she declared the courts open. Personal Items. Sister George, of the Hastings Memorial Hospital, visited Masterton for the annual re-union of Solway Old Girls. Mr E. Harman, Lower Hutt, spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs R. J. Harman, Haunui. Mr Athol Kilgour has returned from a visit to Wellington. Misses K. and M. Smith visited Foxton during the weekend. Mrs N. M. Hislop and her small daughter have returned to Tiraumea from a visit to Waverley. Mi- and Mrs S. Waldin, Foxton, were recent visitors to Mr and Mrs J. Parsonson, Silverwood. Mrs Ashworth, Wellington, has been the guest of her daughter, Mrs S. K. Raleigh.
