BITTERLY COLD WEATHER ON WESTERN FRONT SNOW IN SOME PLACES. GERMAN RAIDS REPULSED. I The following Daventry reports have; been rebroadcast by the Now Zealand’ national stations: — Bitterly cold weather and heavy rain has set in on the Western Front, and snow is falling in the vicinity of the Maginot Line. German raids have been repulsed before they reached the Allied lines. Herr Hitler had a long meeting with his generals yesterday, and another conference is being held today. A German plane which landed in Denmark has been confiscated. FINLAND AND RUSSIA. It is stated that Russia’s demands on Finland include certain points upon which Finland cannot yield. Finland has reaffirmed her determination to maintain her independence. Negotiations, it is reported, have gone forward a little. Precautionary measures by Finland include the laying of mines on the south coast. NEUTRAL SHIPS SUNK. Thirty neutral ships have ben sunk since the war began by German submarines. Two Dutch steamers, trading between neutral ports, are overdue.
