DEATH OF MRS GRIFFITHS ("Times-Age” Special.) A highly respected resident of Martinborough in the person of Mrs Janet Griffiths died on Tuesday night. The late Mrs Griffiths, who was 82 years of ago, was born at Takaka, Nelson, and was a sister of Mr John Haldane, one of the pioneer settlers of that province. She married the late Mr John Griffiths, of the Railways Department, Petone, and resided in that town for some twelve years. For the past 24 years Mrs Griffiths had lived with her son in Martinborough. Two sons —Mr H. L. Griffiths, of Martinborough, and Mr R. Griffiths, of Melbourne, and a sister (Miss C. Haldane, Nelson) and two brothers (Mr R. Haldane, Waipukurau, and Mr A. Haldane), are left. PUBLIC LIBRARY LIST OF NEW BOOKS. TENNIS SEASON TO BE OPENED ON SATURDAY. The Martinborough Tennis Club will officially open the season on Saturday at 3 p.m. (wet or fine). , A charge of 6d will be made for afternoon tea, the. proceeds to go towards the Centennial Baths Funds. The afternoon tea hostesses will be Mesdames G. McLeod and J. McLeod, and Miss J. McLeod. Silver Wedding. Mr and Mrs Alec Macgregor celebrated their silver wedding on Saturday night when a number of relations and friends visited them and tendered congratulations, a most enjoyable time being spent. ’
