Attlee in the House of Commons Mr Neville Chamberlain said it was usual for treaties I to be laid before the House for twenty - one days before ratification, but that: “In view of the exceptional circumstances of the present case it was desired that the Anglo-Turkish Treaty should be ratified as soon as possible. We therefore propose to submit the treaty for his Majesty’s signature at once and exchange instruments of ratification at Ankara next week.”
