Dannevirke Power Board.
At a meeting of the Dannevirke Power Board yesterday the secretary, Mr T. H. Pickard, presented a statement showing a profit of £927 3s 2d for the half-year’s working. Consumers now total 3170, compared with 3060 for September of last year. The chairman, Mr M. O. Grainger, in answer to a question by Mr H. Stratford regarding new work, said all applications for new lines were now decided by a controller. The board had asked for the authorisation of three lines; the Makaretu line had been granted, and the other two declined, one to be reviewed in three months and the other in six months. Those people who had made installations were in a serious position as a result of the two applications being held over. A review of the applications had been asked for, but no official reply had yet been received. The board had the money, men and materials, yet it could not proceed with the work.
